Minutes of the monthly audit meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Olive held Monday, April 2, 2001, 7:30 pm at the Town Office Building in Shokan, NY.

Members Present:

Berndt Leifeld, Supervisor
Cindy Johansen, Council Member
Helen Chase, Council Member
Bruce La Monda, Council Member
Linda Burkhardt, Council Member
Recording Secretary: Sylvia Rozzelle, Town Clerk
Others Present: Gene Sorbellini, Recreation Director

The Town Board audited the bills for the month of March.

Supervisor Leifeld stated that Chris White of Clearwater contacted him requesting a resolution of support regarding the “pcb” dredging of the Hudson River near Troy, NY. He noted he had also received information from the People’s Coalition Blocking Sludge group in the Kingston and Hyde Park area. Council Member La Monda stated this is a river town issue and suggested staying neutral on the subject. Council Member Johansen noted that “pcb” is also airborne as well as suspended in fish and expressed concern that prior to transporting the sludge to a landfill facility the sludge would be dried and compressed in people’s back yards along the river. She also suggested staying neutral on the issue. Council Member Chase stated she was impressed about what they said about dredging; however, we are not on the Hudson River waterfront. On a Leifeld/La Monda motion and unanimous approval the Town Board agreed to remain neutral on the issue.

Supervisor Leifeld reviewed correspondence to be presented at the April 3rd meeting while Town Board members audited the bills.

All business pertinent having been discussed the Town Board adjourned at 8:15 pm on a Leifeld/Burkhardt motion.

Sylvia Rozzelle, Town Clerk
