Shandaken project. He stated the resolution passed by the Watershed Coalition
simply had to do with home rule in local municipalities evaluating environmental
impacts of projects in their towns. He stated they supported the Town
of Shandaken only on the issue of home rule regarding Shandaken wanting to
be a part of the environmental impact statement. Council Member La Monda
stated the Watershed Coalition resolution addressed towns having funds provided
by project applicants so the town can participate in the SEQRA process. He
stated the main purpose of the resolution passed at the coalition was to include
towns in this process to save the taxpayers dollars. Council Member La Monda
stated the Town of Olive would be in the same mess here if a major project
was introduced where the DEC becomes lead agency.
